Jerry Watson Directs Two Productions at Boerne Community Theatre
Jerry Watson is actively engaged in multiple roles at the Boerne Community Theatre, contributing both to the organization’s regular operations and directing two upcoming productions. As the immediate past president, Watson takes on several essential tasks each month, including managing concessions by picking up cookies from Bear Moon Bakery, handling waste management, and updating the theatre’s marquee.
Watson’s directorial efforts are currently focused on the dark comedy “Loot,” written by Joe Orton. This production is set to premiere on November 7, 2023, and will run for three weekends. The play revolves around two thieves who attempt to conceal stolen money in a casket, which creates a series of comedic complications. This unique show is co-produced by Holt & Holt Funeral Home, adding an intriguing layer to the narrative.
Reservations for “Loot” are available online through the theatre’s website at www.boernetheatre.org or by calling 830-249-9166. Ticket prices range from $20 to $24, and this performance marks the last opportunity for season ticket holders to enjoy a show this year.
Before the opening of “Loot,” Watson will also showcase the talents of participants from the recent ActIII@BCT readers’ theatre class. This free event is scheduled for November 1, 2023, and will take place at the theatre. The showcase will feature performers including Bob Carnes, Sonja Jimenez, Denise Fortenberry, Paul Peterson, Kimberly Stoner, Carol Sweatmon, Jennifer Goetz, Kathy Binetti, and Frank Binetti. Doors will open at 18:30 with the performance starting at 19:00, accompanied by wine and snacks for attendees.
Located at 907 E. Blanco Road in Boerne, Texas, the Boerne Community Theatre is a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Its mission is to entertain, educate, and enrich the community through high-quality live theatre productions. Watson’s involvement in these initiatives reflects his commitment to fostering a vibrant cultural scene in the area.
