UPDATE: In a thrilling Class 1A girls basketball showdown, Mayer Lutheran narrowly defeated Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy 59-50 on December 13, 2025. This match-up featured two top ten teams, with No. 8 Mayer Lutheran overcoming the No. 10 Vikings in a tense second half.

The Vikings started strong, taking a seven-point lead into halftime. However, the second half proved challenging as they struggled to find their rhythm.
