Warner Bros. Announces 4K Release for ‘It: Welcome to Derry’
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has confirmed the physical media release of its latest horror series, It: Welcome to Derry. The first season will be available in a limited edition 4K UHD Steelbook, Blu-ray, and DVD formats on May 5, 2026. This announcement follows the conclusion of the initial season, which has garnered attention for its unique take on Stephen King‘s iconic story.
Fans can look forward to a variety of bonus features included in the home release. The package will feature behind-the-scenes content, such as a never-before-seen featurette and three extended episodes that delve deeper into the story’s development. It: Welcome to Derry: The Complete First Season consists of eight episodes that explore the origins of the infamous Pennywise, a character that has haunted audiences for decades.
The series travels back to 1962, uncovering the backstory of the otherworldly clown and how he came to terrorize the town of Derry. Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise, reinforcing the character’s terrifying presence right from the first episode. Alongside Skarsgård, the cast includes notable actors like Taylour Paige, Stephen Rider, and James Remar, among others.
The creative team behind the series includes Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, who previously collaborated on the successful film adaptations of King’s work in 2017 and 2019. Fuchs served as co-showrunner alongside Brad Caleb Kane, with all four as executive producers.
Future Prospects for ‘It: Welcome to Derry’
From the outset, both Andy and Barbara Muschietti expressed aspirations for Welcome to Derry to span multiple seasons, examining different periods when Pennywise reawakens and disrupts the town. While the series has not yet received confirmation for a second season, its success on streaming platforms hints at a potential renewal announcement in the near future.
Fans eagerly await the opportunity to bring the chilling experience of It: Welcome to Derry into their homes. With its upcoming physical release on May 5, 2026, horror enthusiasts will soon have the chance to revisit the terrifying journey through Derry’s dark past.
