New Year’s Baby Makes Debut at UCHealth Greeley Hospital

A new baby boy heralded the arrival of 2026 at UCHealth Greeley Hospital, as Graciela Martinez and Alejandro Regalado welcomed their son just after the clock struck midnight. The couple’s first child, named Alejandro Regalado, was born at 1:01 a.m. on January 1, 2026, marking a joyful start to the New Year for the family.

Martinez, who was celebrating her sister’s birthday at her mother’s house on New Year’s Eve, realized it was time to head to the hospital around 22:30. “I called my husband and I’m like, get ready,” she recounted. The couple’s son weighed in at a healthy 6 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 19.5 inches long.

In reflecting on the unexpected timing of their child’s birth, Martinez expressed delight, saying, “Obviously, it wasn’t planned or anything but that’s pretty cool. Thank God, we’re actually doing really well.” If everything proceeds as planned, she anticipates returning home with her newborn by Friday morning.

As a gesture of celebration, UCHealth Greeley Hospital will present Martinez and Regalado with a gift basket containing baby clothing, blankets, and other essentials. In 2025, the hospital had a notable year, delivering a total of 730 babies.
