Mickey Rourke has publicly distanced himself from a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $100,000 amid reports of his financial difficulties and a potential eviction. In a video posted to social media on January 6, 2026, the 73-year-old actor expressed his frustration, asserting that he had no involvement with the fundraising effort.

According to Page Six, Rourke stated, “That’s not me, OK?” making it clear that he does not wish to receive public sympathy or financial assistance. He emphasized his unfamiliarity with the crowd-funding platform, saying, “I wouldn’t know what a GoFund[Me] foundation is in a million years.”

Rourke’s Anger and Pride

In a passionate response, Rourke rejected the notion of soliciting help from fans or strangers, declaring, “If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f–king charity. I’d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger.” He elaborated on his principles, stating, “It’s not my style to ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel.” Rourke urged anyone who contributed to the campaign to “get [their] money back.”

He shared his suspicions regarding the identity of the individual who initiated the GoFundMe page, which claims to have been created with his “full permission” by Liya-Joelle Jones, an assistant to Rourke’s manager, Kimberly Hines. Rourke mentioned, “There’s only one person I can think of that would do such a thing, and I hope it’s not the person I’m thinking about.” He described the situation as humiliating but expressed confidence in overcoming it.

Financial Struggles and Personal Reflection

Rourke also addressed reports of owing nearly $60,000 in back rent, reflecting on his past management decisions. He acknowledged, “I wasn’t diplomatic,” while criticizing his previous career management as a “really terrible job.” He revealed that he has spent over 20 years in therapy to address the issues stemming from his earlier life choices, stating, “I worked very hard to work through that. I’m not that person anymore.”

Despite denying any intentions to fundraise, Rourke did reveal that he recently borrowed money from a close friend. According to a report from the Daily Mail, Rourke is described as “rich poor,” living paycheck-to-paycheck and reportedly spending his earnings rapidly. A source mentioned, “He spends … so fast that he is at square one right around the time that he starts making money.”
