Tim Allen Reveals Skin Cancer Diagnosis After Years of Oversight

Tim Allen disclosed that he was diagnosed with skin cancer, a condition that had been overlooked by a dermatologist on multiple occasions. In an episode of the podcast “Club Random” hosted by Bill Maher on January 5, 2024, the 72-year-old actor shared his experience of finally seeking medical attention after a makeup artist from *The Today Show* pointed out a concerning spot on his nose.

During the discussion, Allen recounted how the makeup artist noticed the issue during his appearance on the show two years prior. “The lady at *The Today Show* noticed it,” he explained. “This is two years. I did *Jimmy Fallon* and then I did *The Today Show*. And she goes, ‘I see you haven’t done anything yet.’” This prompted Allen to consult his doctor, who, after examining the spot for the first time in 30 years, responded with alarm.

According to Allen, the doctor reacted strongly, saying, “Oh s***. S***, Janice, get Paul in here, and my lawyer.” This dramatic moment came after the doctor confessed he had “screwed up,” leading to Allen’s diagnosis of either melanoma or carcinoma. The comedian faced the prospect of surgery, with the doctor indicating that he would need to remove a significant portion of Allen’s nose.

“He goes, ‘I’m going to have to cut most of your nose off,’” Allen recalled. He humorously added, “Let me explain what I do for a living. Unless I’m gonna do a *Blazing Saddles* with the guy with the silver nose, you have to leave some of my f***ing nose on so I can do comedy without doing 20 minutes on having no nose!”

Allen’s career began as a stand-up comedian in the 1970s, and he became a household name for his role as Tim ‘The Toolman’ Taylor in *Home Improvement*, which earned him a Golden Globe Award.
