Iran Threatens Retaliation as Protest Death Toll Hits 203

Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, issued a stark warning on Sunday, stating that U.S. military personnel and Israel would be considered “legitimate targets” if the United States carried out military strikes against Iran in response to ongoing protests. This statement follows threats from President Donald Trump, who has expressed support for demonstrators challenging Iran’s theocratic regime. The protests, now over two weeks old, have resulted in at least 203 deaths according to activists, with concerns that the actual toll may be significantly higher.

Tensions escalated as protests erupted in various Iranian cities, including Tehran and Mashhad.
