Justin Rose Breaks 36-Hole Record, Leads Farmers Insurance Open
UPDATE: In a stunning display of skill, Justin Rose shattered his own 36-hole record at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, finishing Friday with a remarkable 17-under total. With a commanding four-shot lead, Rose is poised for an exhilarating weekend at Torrey Pines.
As the tournament unfolds, all eyes are on Rose, who opened his campaign with an impressive 62 on the North course, before following up with a 65 on the notoriously challenging South course. His performance broke the previous 36-hole record by two shots, highlighting his dominance as he heads into Saturday.
Meanwhile, Dallas resident Si Woo Kim is making waves, currently sitting in the top five, just seven shots off the lead. Adding to the excitement, Max McGreevy, an Oklahoma native, is tied for third at 11-under, showcasing the fierce competition among this year’s field.
Brooks Koepka is back on the PGA Tour after a stint with LIV Golf, finishing with a 68 on the North course. His performance was enough to make the cut, but he trails Rose by a whopping 14 shots. Notably, Xander Schauffele, a two-time major champion and San Diego native, saw his impressive 72-tournament cut streak come to an end, missing the weekend for the first time since the 2022 Masters.
The atmosphere on the course was electric, with fans eager to see if anyone can catch Rose. His record-setting pace includes a stunning 7-under score on the South course, which is a challenging venue that has hosted two U.S. Opens. Rose expressed confidence in his game, stating, “I had the added benefit of being able to go and play the South with the right mindset.”
With the tournament cut falling at 3-under 141, several players, including Joel Dahmen, who shot a spectacular 63 on the North, are also in contention. The competition level remains high, as evidenced by Seamus Power from Ireland, who finished with a 66 on the North and sits in second place.
The weekend promises to be thrilling, with Rose’s formidable lead not guaranteeing victory as the competition heats up. Fans are left wondering if anyone can stage a comeback against his stellar performance. As we look ahead, keep an eye on the leaderboard for updates and potential shifts in momentum as the best players in golf battle it out.
This year’s Farmers Insurance Open is not just about the scores; it’s a showcase of resilience, talent, and the excitement that golf brings to fans around the world. Follow the action closely as it unfolds this weekend!
