Emma Roberts Stars in New Horror Film ‘A Body In The Woods’

Emma Roberts, known for her roles in *American Horror Story* and *Scream 4*, is set to headline the upcoming horror film *A Body In The Woods*. Produced by Dave Caplan, who has previously worked on projects like *Longlegs* and *The Monkey*, this film marks the debut of the U.S. sales firm Manifest Pictures. The company, led by Yvette Zhuang and Zach Glueck, is launching pre-sales at the European Film Market in Berlin this week.

In *A Body In The Woods*, Roberts will portray Alice Lincoln, a woman living in the early 1900s in the eerie setting of the Marshall Woods. The woods are notorious for their legends of a menacing witch. The plot follows Alice as she vigilantly guards the body of an unidentified mine worker at her isolated cabin. As unsettling disturbances unfold around her, Alice begins to fear that the corpse may not be at rest. The film promises to blend folklore with horror, creating a chilling atmosphere as a mysterious woman appears at the forest’s edge, trapping Alice in a waking nightmare.

Stephen Cognetti, who is known for creating the *Hell House* franchise, will write and direct this “nightmarish folklore tale.” Production is scheduled to commence in September, with financing provided by Caplan’s C2 Motion Picture Group.

Caplan expressed confidence in the project, stating, “Stephen has consistently proven he can create terrifying, elevated immersive horror experiences. With Emma in the lead, *A Body In The Woods* is an undeniable package.”

Cognetti added, “Emma brings an intelligence and emotional fearlessness that elevates everything she touches. She understands horror on a cellular level—how to balance vulnerability, strength, and terror.” He aims for the film to test the limits of fear for both Alice and the audience, leaving viewers unsettled and questioning their experience.

Manifest Pictures also highlighted their excitement about collaborating with a producer of Caplan’s caliber and a director with a proven track record of frightening audiences worldwide.

Roberts has an impressive portfolio that includes titles like *Holidate*, *Scream Queens*, and the blockbuster *We’re the Millers*. In addition to her role in *A Body In The Woods*, she serves as a co-producer on the Hulu series *Tell Me Lies*.

Roberts is represented by Sweeney Entertainment, while Cognetti is represented by Anonymous Content. As *A Body In The Woods* moves forward, anticipation builds for this fresh addition to the horror genre.
