Students Shine at Texas All-State Symphonic Band Concert

Two talented high school musicians from East Texas showcased their skills at the prestigious 2026 Texas All-State Symphonic Band concert. Logan Blondrage from Pine Tree High School and Sunny Kim from Spring Hill High School qualified for this elite ensemble following a rigorous audition process that spanned several competitive levels, including district, region, and area competitions.

This marks a significant achievement for Blondrage, who is performing with a Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State organization for the second time. Both musicians play the clarinet, a testament to their dedication and talent in the realm of music education. According to school officials, being selected for an All-State concert represents the highest honor a music student can attain in Texas.

The audition process is highly competitive, starting with approximately 60,000 students statewide. From this pool, only 1,830 students, or the top 3%, are chosen to participate in one of the 18 ensembles. Selected musicians attend four days of rehearsals during the TMEA Clinic/Convention, culminating in the All-State concert held at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio.

Recognition for Agriculture Students at Fort Worth Event

In addition to the musical achievements, two East Texas students received accolades during the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on February 5, 2026. Savannah Isgitt, a member of the Hallsville FFA, earned a $500 Calf Scramble purchase certificate, supported by Coleman Livestock Auction. Similarly, Ryan McGuire from Marshall FFA also received a $500 Calf Scramble purchase certificate, sponsored by Thornton Cattle Co..

The stock show features 23 rodeo performances, with students competing to catch one of ten calves. Successful participants in the Calf Scramble have the opportunity to earn a heifer purchase certificate. Those who complete the requirements and exhibit their heifer at the 2027 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo can vie for scholarships ranging from $500 to $16,000.

These accomplishments underscore the commitment of East Texas students to excellence in both music and agriculture, showcasing their talents on significant platforms.
