This performance will take place at the Performing Arts Center Black Box Theatre in Norwalk from March 5 to March 8, 2024.

Tío Juan is described by the department as a faithful yet culturally enriched reinterpretation, shifting the setting to the vibrant landscape of 1934 South Texas. This adaptation seeks to blend Chekhov’s universal themes of disillusionment and longing with a distinct cultural context, promising an engaging experience for audiences.

Performances are scheduled for the evening of Thursday, March 5; Friday, March 6; and Saturday, March 7 at 20:00, with a matinee on Sunday, March 8 at 14:00. Tickets are available for public purchase, ranging in price from $10 to $20, making it accessible for a wide audience.

Cerritos College’s performing arts program is well-regarded for providing students with practical experience in various aspects of theatre, including acting, technical production, lighting, costume design, and stage management. The upcoming production of Tío Juan marks an exciting addition to the department’s spring season, expected to attract both campus and community members with its unique artistic vision.
