Sound Transit Announces Major Train Service Changes Starting March 2
URGENT UPDATE: Sound Transit has just announced significant changes to train services on the 1 and 2 Lines, set to begin on March 2. These alterations are designed to facilitate essential construction work at Pinehurst Station and will impact late-night services over several days.
Beginning 11 p.m. on March 2 and continuing through March 6, train schedules will be modified. The 2 Line will turn back at Northgate Station, while the 1 Line will share a track between Northgate and Shoreline South.
In addition, Link light rail service will be replaced by buses between Northgate and Lynnwood during late-night hours on March 3, 4, and 5. However, regular service will continue for 1 Line trains between Federal Way and Northgate, and for 2 Line trains from Downtown Redmond to South Bellevue and from International District/Chinatown to Northgate.
This planned service disruption also includes a complete bus replacement for 1 and 2 Line trains between Capitol Hill and Stadium stations on March 21 and 22 for maintenance work in the Downtown Tunnel.
Sound Transit emphasizes that these adjustments are part of ongoing maintenance and preparations for significant upcoming events, including the World Cup. Riders are encouraged to stay informed by signing up for email service alerts through Sound Transit’s website, which provide crucial information about schedule changes and assist with trip planning, especially during inclement weather.
Stay tuned for further updates as Sound Transit continues its important work to enhance the transit experience in the region. For more information and alerts, visit the Sound Transit website.
