Will Cooper, Jr., President and CEO of WNC, has been appointed Chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) BUILD-PAC, a political action committee focused on supporting candidates who advocate for pro-housing and pro-business policies. His appointment was announced during the 2026 International Builders’ Show held in Orlando, Florida, on February 18, 2026.

Leadership Role in Political Advocacy

As Chairman, Cooper will lead the BUILD-PAC Board of Trustees, which comprises over 100 members from across the United States. The committee plays a crucial role in influencing housing policy by engaging with federal lawmakers and promoting the interests of the home building industry. Cooper expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “I am honored to be installed as the 2026 Chairman of BUILD-PAC, one of the most influential political organizations in housing.” He emphasized the importance of political engagement, noting, “Elections matter and have a lasting impact on housing policy and home building.”

Joining BUILD-PAC as a Trustee over a decade ago, Cooper has a deep understanding of the political landscape affecting the housing sector. His leadership is expected to bolster the committee’s efforts in advocating for policies that benefit the home building community, particularly during this critical mid-term election cycle.

Cooper’s Broader Responsibilities

In addition to his role with BUILD-PAC, Cooper oversees WNC’s overall business strategy. He also directs its subsidiary, Community Preservation Partners, and the affiliate Preservation Equity Fund Advisors. Furthermore, Cooper is involved with the Cooper Housing Institute, a non-profit organization founded by his family, which is dedicated to addressing homelessness in the United States.

Cooper’s extensive experience in these capacities positions him to further enhance BUILD-PAC’s influence within the industry. His term as Chairman will continue until the next International Builders Show in 2027, where he will likely outline future strategies for the committee’s initiatives.

Founded in 1971, WNC has made significant contributions to affordable housing, acquiring over $21.5 billion in properties and creating more than 120,000 units across 49 states, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands. With a reputation as a leader in tax credit syndication and community preservation services, WNC continues to impact the housing market positively.
