Olmsted Falls Bulldogs Aim for Fourth Straight Regional Title

The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs are set to face off against Hudson in the Division II Region 6 final on March 6, 2024, at Medina High School. With a remarkable history of three consecutive Final Four appearances, the Bulldogs aim to secure their fourth straight regional title, a feat never before achieved by any girls basketball program in the area.

Head coach Jordan Eaton expressed confidence in his team, stating, “I have felt good for a while about our team. Since our last loss, we have connected in a way that is unique. They are very together, work very hard, and there is never any second-guessing of the coaching staff.” The Bulldogs have shown their resilience, winning 11 consecutive games since a narrow defeat to Berea-Midpark in early January, and they recently reclaimed the Bagley Cup and secured their eighth Southwestern Conference title.

As they prepare for the final, Eaton has been closely observing Hudson, who recently defeated Brecksville-Broadview Heights 51-44 in their regional semifinal. “I was really impressed by them. You knew that was a battle,” Eaton remarked. The Explorers, part of the Suburban League National Division, are tied for third in their league standings but have demonstrated their strength by winning several district titles.

Hudson’s recent performance showcases their defensive prowess, particularly in their semifinal against Brecksville, where they limited their opponents to just two free throws in the final quarter. Abby Henderson, a standout 5-foot-9 guard, played a crucial role in their success, leading the Explorers with 19 points, including 10 in the first quarter.

As the teams prepare for the showdown, the Bulldogs’ path to the final included decisive victories against Valley Forge (83-15), John Marshall (61-25), and North Canton Hoover (59-33). Meanwhile, Hudson’s journey to the final saw them defeat Cuyahoga Falls (48-22), Magnificat (37-33), and Brecksville-Broadview Heights.

The upcoming matchup promises to be a thrilling contest, with both teams demonstrating exceptional talent and determination. The winner will advance to the Division II state semifinal, facing off against the victor of the game between Akron Hoban and Twinsburg on March 13, 2024.
