Wolf Pack Fall 5-2 in Season Opener Against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
UPDATE: The Hartford Wolf Pack suffered a disappointing defeat in their season opener, falling to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-2 at PeoplesBank Arena last night. The Penguins took control early, securing a commanding three-goal lead that ultimately sealed the game.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Atley Calvert struck first, scoring in the opening period, followed by a third goal from Avery Hayes just minutes into the second. The Wolf Pack, now 0-2-0-0 for the season, managed to respond when Gabe Perreault found the back of the net at 16:41 of the second period, assisted by Dylan Roobroeck and Blake Hillman.
As the third period unfolded, Adam Sykora narrowed the gap to just one goal at 6:50, with assists from Derrick Pouliot and Conner Mackey. However, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton quickly regained control as Calvert scored his second goal at 11:53. Tristan Broz sealed the Penguins’ victory with an empty-netter at 17:53.
Goalies Sergei Murashov of the Penguins and Dyland Garand of the Wolf Pack showcased their skills, with Murashov stopping 28 shots and Garand making 27 saves.
This loss marks a challenging start for the Wolf Pack, who are eager to bounce back. They will face off against Providence tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Fans are urged to tune in as the team seeks to turn their fortunes around in this early season matchup.
