Go Bald to See ‘Bugonia’ Early: Free Screening in LA!
URGENT UPDATE: A unique opportunity to see the highly anticipated film Bugonia is coming to Los Angeles on Monday, October 20, 2023, at 8 PM—but there’s a catch: you must be bald or willing to go bald to attend.
The screening will take place at the Culver Theater, and tickets are absolutely free. However, attendees with hair will need to visit an on-site barber starting at 6 PM to shave their heads, enabling entry into this first-come, first-serve event. This gimmick mirrors a recent promotional strategy for another film, The Long Walk, and is sure to draw attention.
Focus Features will not only host the screening but will also film the event for promotional purposes, echoing the marketing tactics often used in horror films. Bugonia, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, stars Emma Stone as Michelle, a pharmaceutical CEO abducted by conspiratorial characters Teddy (played by Jesse Plemons) and Don (played by Aidan Delbis). The plot thickens as the kidnappers believe Michelle is an alien intent on destroying Earth, leading them to shave her head to prevent her from contacting her spaceship.
Emma Stone, who famously went bald for the role, described the experience as liberating. In her words, “It was pretty great not to have hair,” and this screening presents an extraordinary chance for fans to witness her performance before the film officially hits theaters on October 24, 2023.
This unconventional screening is not just about a film; it’s an experience that blends absurdity with community interaction. It’s an event that’s bound to generate buzz and engagement, making it a must-see for adventurous film lovers in LA.
Stay tuned for further updates as this unique event unfolds. Don’t miss out on this chance to be part of cinema history—whether you’re bald or ready to embrace a new look for the night!
