“SNL Features Sabrina Carpenter, Domingo Returns Amid Humor and Politics”
BREAKING: “Saturday Night Live” just aired an unforgettable episode featuring host and musical guest Sabrina Carpenter, marking her debut as host alongside the return of popular character Domingo, played by Marcello Hernández. The show, which aired on October 14, 2023, saw pop culture take center stage, overshadowing political commentary typically found in the long-running sketch series.
The episode’s start was delayed due to college football, but when it kicked off, Carpenter delivered high-energy performances from her latest album, “Man’s Best Friend.” As she took on dual roles of host and performer, the audience was treated to a mix of laughter and music, making for an engaging evening.
Domingo made a splash as he returned in a sketch involving a romantic party crash on the occasion of husband Matt’s 30th birthday, played by Andrew Dismukes. Kelsey, portrayed by Chloe Fineman, sought to celebrate with a special night out, surrounded by her “Kelsquad” and, of course, Domingo. The squad’s catchy chant, “D, O, M, I, N, G, O, Domingo!” set an upbeat tone for the sketch, showcasing the comedic talent of the cast.
In a hilarious twist, Domingo serenaded Kelsey about their wild night in Nashville, which humorously resulted in a noise complaint. “Kelsey, I’m serious, this is strike six!” a frustrated Matt exclaimed, highlighting the ongoing comedic tension.
While politics briefly took a backseat, the episode did not shy away from addressing current events. Donald Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson, engaged in a satirical podcast discussion on the “Snack Homiez” show, hosted by a group of child actors including Carpenter. The comedic take on Trump’s appearance, where he discussed “GOATed” vegetables and his favorite snack choices, was both amusing and pointed.
In this skit, Johnson’s Trump humorously declared, “I’ve never been one for the veggies… Ding Dongs. I like a Ding Dong.” The absurdity continued as he mentioned former U.S. Representative George Santos, recently commuted from a lengthy prison sentence for wire fraud. Trump’s crooked admiration for Santos provided an unexpected moment of political commentary during the comedic episode.
As the show addressed nationwide “No Kings” protests, Johnson’s Trump quipped, “The people are marching because they’re happy he’s free, right? It’s a ‘Yes, King’ march.” This line not only elicited laughter but also reflected the show’s ability to blend humor with real-world issues, keeping audiences engaged.
“SNL” continues to be a cultural staple, showcasing timely and relevant satire while entertaining millions. The episode’s blend of pop culture and light political commentary makes it clear that the show remains a significant platform for both laughter and discussion.
Catch “SNL” every Saturday night on NBC, and stay tuned for more updates as the show remains a focal point in entertainment and cultural commentary.
