Palmer Luckey Reveals Urgent “China 27” Strategy for Taiwan
BREAKING: Palmer Luckey, founder of defense startup Anduril, has unveiled a critical internal strategy called “China 27,” designed to prepare for a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan as early as 2027. During a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Luckey emphasized the urgency of this strategy, stating, “Anything we are working on needs to be built with the assumption that sometime in 2027, China is going to move on Taiwan.”
This announcement comes amid escalating tensions in the Taiwan Strait, where China’s government views Taiwan as a breakaway province. Luckey, who recently visited Taiwan to deliver advanced missile systems, acknowledged the gravity of the situation, asserting, “Wouldn’t I feel pretty stupid if there’s a gigantic fight and I’ve spent all my money on something that wasn’t ready in time?” His comments reflect a growing concern among defense experts regarding the preparedness of Taiwan against potential military actions from China.
Luckey admits that while a full-scale invasion may not be the most likely action from China, he believes that a blockade is a real threat. He urged Taiwan to develop capabilities that would deter such actions, describing the need for “things that make them a very prickly porcupine.” This includes advanced missile systems and sea mining capabilities to safeguard the island.
The urgency of Luckey’s message resonates with recent military procurement shifts in the US. On October 13, 2023, US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll announced a move towards a more startup-friendly procurement process, aiming to disrupt the traditional defense industry. This shift is crucial as the US seeks to enhance its military readiness in the face of emerging global threats.
Anduril, valued at $30.5 billion as of June 2023, is positioning itself as a formidable player in the defense sector, actively collaborating with major tech firms. In May, Meta partnered with Anduril to develop next-generation military gear, a project funded without taxpayer support, aimed at saving the US military billions.
The company has also made headlines for securing a $642 million contract with the US Marine Corps for anti-drone systems, illustrating its commitment to innovation in defense technologies.
Luckey’s strategic foresight is particularly relevant as geopolitical tensions continue to rise. His belief that the US should focus on being “the world’s gun store” rather than engaging in direct military conflicts highlights a significant shift in defense policy perspectives.
As the situation unfolds, the implications of Luckey’s strategy will be closely monitored by defense analysts and policymakers alike. For now, the “China 27” plan underscores a pivotal moment in the defense landscape, emphasizing the need for readiness in an increasingly volatile world.
