Rev. Bry Shields to Retire as President of McGill-Toolen High School
The Rev. Bry Shields, president of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile, Alabama, has announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2026. This decision comes after a distinguished tenure that began in 1989, making him a prominent figure in the school community for over three decades. The announcement was made in a statement released by both St. Ignatius Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Mobile.
In his statement, Rev. Shields expressed the need to devote his full attention to his parish duties at St. Ignatius, where he will continue to serve as pastor. He stated, “It is time for me to focus entirely on my responsibilities to my parish community, which I deeply cherish.” His leadership at McGill-Toolen has been marked by significant growth and development within the institution.
Under Rev. Shields’ direction, McGill-Toolen has not only maintained its reputation for academic excellence but has also fostered a strong sense of community among students, parents, and faculty.
