Police Identify Baby Boy Found Dead in 1981; Public’s Help Needed
BREAKING NEWS: San Bruno police have officially identified a newborn boy found dead in a park over four decades ago, igniting a renewed effort to solve this tragic cold case. The announcement comes as authorities are urgently seeking the public’s assistance in the ongoing investigation.
On November 11, 1981, the infant’s lifeless body was discovered inside a garbage can at Buckeye Park around 4 p.m. Initial reports confirm he had been strangled and suffered severe head injuries, having likely been placed there just hours prior, after 11 a.m..
Utilizing advanced forensic genealogy, a “newly available investigative technology,” investigators successfully traced the child’s family, collaborating with the Texas Department of Public Safety and specialized forensic labs. While police have not yet released the names of the child’s parents, this identification marks a significant breakthrough in a case that has haunted the community for decades.
“This identification represents a major step forward in the case and has renewed efforts to bring this case to justice,” the San Bruno Police Department stated on social media. The department is now appealing to the public for any information that may assist in determining the circumstances surrounding the infant’s tragic death.
At the time of discovery, investigators noted the baby had Type O-positive blood and uncovered reddish-brown human hair along with black dog hair on the sock believed to have been used in the strangulation. Despite extensive investigations conducted over the years, authorities were unable to identify the child or the individuals responsible for his death.
Community members are urged to come forward with any relevant information by contacting the police department at 650-616-7100 or via email at [email protected].
As this case develops, the San Bruno Police continue their pursuit of justice for this unidentified baby boy. Stay tuned for further updates on this heart-wrenching story that underscores the enduring impact of unresolved tragedies in our communities.
