Mary Ann Allar, Beloved Quilter, Passes Away at 82
BREAKING: Mary Ann (Godfrey) Allar, a cherished member of the San Antonio community, has passed away at the age of 82. She died peacefully on October 2, 2025, surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity.
Born on June 18, 1943, in Duluth, MN, Mary Ann was known for her vibrant personality and her passion for quilting. She dedicated her life to crafting exquisite handmade quilts, which she generously gifted to friends and family. Her love for quilting was matched only by her enjoyment of playing Bingo, watching game shows, and spending precious moments with her beloved dogs, Skipper and Maggie.
Mary Ann was the devoted wife of Gordon Allar, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her siblings, including Alice (Daryle) Thompson, Michael Godfrey, and Julie Godfrey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and the special Quinnell children. Her passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of many who knew her warm spirit.
A graveside blessing will be held at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth on November 10, 2025, at 10:30 AM. Following her wishes, part of her remains will stay in Duluth, while the rest will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI, on October 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
Mary Ann’s life was a testament to the joy of giving and the importance of community. As family and friends gather to celebrate her life, her impact will be felt for generations to come. The community in San Antonio and Duluth mourns the loss of a truly remarkable woman whose warmth and kindness touched so many lives.
