Thrilling Longmont Halloween Parade Draws Huge Crowds and Newcomers

UPDATE: The annual Longmont Halloween Parade transformed Main Street into a vibrant celebration today, October 28, 2023, as families donned creative costumes, bringing a surge of energy and excitement to the event. Her mother, Candice Hurowitz, shared with enthusiasm, “She’s watched the movie a hundred times and knows every word!”

This year marked the first time the Hurowitz family participated in the parade, and they were amazed by the turnout. “I can’t believe how many people there are,” Candice exclaimed before the festivities began. They were not alone; the Hernon family also joined for their inaugural parade experience, each member dressed as a character from the Batman universe, including Misty Hernon as the Riddler. “We’ve lived here for 13 years, but this is the first time we’ve ever done this,” Misty stated, proud of their handmade costumes.

The creativity was on full display this year, with families showcasing elaborate designs, including characters from The Wizard of Oz and space-themed costumes. Abigail Hernon, who portrayed Robin, proudly noted, “We’ve been working on these since, like, March.” The excitement was palpable, as local high school bands played seasonal favorites, adding a festive spirit to the parade.

New attendees like Joslyn Strock from Firestone expressed their delight at the impressive costumes, stating, “I saw such good costumes.” Dressed as a yellow minion from Despicable Me, she brought her dog, Rex, who sported a banana outfit. “A friend of ours does it every year and said it was awesome,” Joslyn shared. “So this year, I was like, ‘We have to do it.’”
