HealthSpring Unveils Medicare Advantage Plans for Houston Seniors

During the Medicare Annual Election Period, which allows seniors to evaluate their healthcare coverage options, HealthSpring has announced its new Medicare Advantage plans aimed at supporting Houston’s elderly population. These plans will be available for coverage starting on January 1, 2026.

Tiffany Frink, a representative of HealthSpring, highlighted the benefits of the plans in an interview with Derrick Shore from Houston Life. The new offerings feature a Part B premium giveback of up to $185 per month, translating to a potential annual savings of $2,220. Additionally, many services will come with $0 copays, which can significantly ease the financial burden on seniors accessing healthcare.

HealthSpring, backed by the Health Care Service Corporation, one of the largest customer-owned health insurers in the United States, aims to assist members in achieving their health and wellness goals. Frink noted that the Annual Election Period is an essential time for individuals to assess their Medicare options, which include Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medigap, and prescription drug plans. With healthcare being a major investment, comparing these plans can help seniors avoid unexpected costs and ensure that their coverage meets their specific needs.

In addition to the Part B premium giveback, HealthSpring’s plans offer other appealing features. These include a $0 monthly plan premium, $0 copays for primary care visits, and low copays for specialist consultations. Many prescription drugs will also have $0 copays, along with over-the-counter allowances, fitness programs, and comprehensive dental, vision, and hearing services. Moreover, seniors can earn up to $200 in rewards for engaging in healthy activities.

A common misconception addressed by Frink is that enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan will result in the loss of military benefits for veterans. She clarified that such plans can actually enhance access to healthcare services not covered by Veterans Affairs care, offering flexibility and potential savings.

Seniors are encouraged to review any Annual Notice of Change received from their current insurance carrier to stay informed about their options. Checking provider networks and drug formularies is also advisable to ensure that preferred doctors and medications are included.
