Ducks Soar to Seventh Straight Win with Carlsson and Sennecke Goals
The Anaheim Ducks secured a decisive 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on March 17, 2024, marking their seventh consecutive win in the NHL. Rookie sensation Beckett Sennecke and standout player Leo Carlsson each scored two goals, extending Carlsson’s impressive points streak to ten games. The Ducks improved their home record to 5-1-0, showcasing a blend of youthful energy and veteran experience.
Sennerke opened the scoring early in the game at 7:18 of the first period. After receiving a pass from Cutter Gauthier behind the Jets’ net, Sennecke fired a shot from the slot, putting the Ducks ahead 1-0. As the period neared its conclusion, Carlsson added to the lead with a power-play goal, converting a pass from Troy Terry with just 57 seconds remaining, giving the Ducks a 2-0 advantage heading into the second period.
The Jets responded with a goal from Kyle Connor at 4:22 of the second period, reducing the deficit to 2-1. Connor’s ninth goal of the season came through traffic, marking a milestone as he recorded his 600th career point. However, the Ducks quickly regained control of the game. Sennecke scored his second goal at 11:48 of the second period, demonstrating skill as he maneuvered around Jets defenseman Dylan DeMelo to net a loose puck.
Carlsson capped off the scoring at 2:47 of the third period, netting his tenth goal of the season. This goal, assisted by Chris Kreider, marked the eighth point in Carlsson’s current scoring streak, contributing to his impressive total of 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) this season. He now trails only Nathan MacKinnon for the league lead in points.
Despite the loss, the Jets are facing challenges on their season-long six-game road trip. They have lost three consecutive games and have been outscored 9-2 during the trip, which began with a defeat to the Los Angeles Kings. Eric Comrie, the Jets’ goaltender, made 17 saves during the match, but his efforts were not enough to turn the tide for Winnipeg.
The Ducks’ victory highlights their growing confidence and skill as they continue to climb the standings. With players like Carlsson and Sennecke leading the charge, the team appears poised for a competitive season ahead.
