Medicom Expands Reach with New VA Contracts in VISN 10 and 17
Medicom Technologies, Inc. has announced the successful signing of contracts with the Veterans Integrated Services Networks (VISN) 10 and 17. This notable achievement means that Medicom is now fully contracted with 17 of the 18 VISNs within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The new agreements will enhance the electronic exchange of radiology images and reports, contributing significantly to community care coordination efforts.
VISN 17 caters to nearly 500,000 veterans across Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Meanwhile, VISN 10 provides care to over 685,000 veterans throughout regions including the lower peninsula of Michigan, Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Indiana. The electronic, bi-directional exchange of medical imaging will replace traditional manual processes, such as the transport of CD-ROMs, thereby streamlining operations for both VA facilities and their community partners.
Enhancing Care Coordination through Technology
The expansion of Medicom’s network not only facilitates improved communication but also empowers VA staff with a robust search capability to locate and retrieve prior medical images from community providers. This technological advancement directly supports the goals set forth under the Mission Act, aiming to enhance overall care coordination for veterans.
“We are proud to support VISN 10, VISN 17, and the VA’s mission,” stated Malcolm Benitz, President of Medicom. “Our team is committed to providing this technology to help VA staff coordinate care with their community partners. This expansion brings numerous new VA Medical Centers and clinics into the network, and it is a testament to our team’s focus on supporting this critical mission.”
