Pedestrian in Wheelchair Fatally Struck in Portland
URGENT UPDATE: A tragic incident in Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood has left a pedestrian in a wheelchair dead after being struck by a vehicle. The collision occurred on the evening of October 29, 2023, near the intersection of Northeast Glisan Street and Northeast 122nd Avenue.
Authorities report that the Portland Police Bureau received alerts about the crash at approximately 7:40 p.m.. The victim, a male in a wheelchair, sustained severe injuries while crossing Northeast 122nd Avenue and was rushed to the hospital. Despite the urgent medical care he received, he succumbed to his injuries at around 2:00 a.m. on October 30.
The driver involved remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators. As of now, no arrests or citations have been issued while the investigation continues. The Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crash Team is actively looking into the circumstances surrounding this devastating event.
In light of this incident, police are calling on the public for assistance. They urge anyone with information about the crash to step forward and contact the authorities. In an official statement, the Portland Police Bureau requested, “If anyone has information about this crash and has not spoken with investigators, please e-mail [email protected] attn: Traffic Division and reference case number 25-297340.”
