Exciting Matchups Set for LHSAA State Volleyball Tournament
The LHSAA (Louisiana High School Athletic Association) state volleyball tournament at the Cajundome is primed for an exciting lineup of matches as teams vie for the championship titles across five divisions. The tournament kicks off with quarterfinal pairings on March 15, 2024, featuring top-seeded teams battling for a spot in the finals.
Quarterfinal Matches Scheduled
In Division I, the matchups include the No. 1 seed, Dominican, competing against No. 8 Fontainebleau at 19:00. Other notable matches in this division feature No. 4 St. Joseph’s facing No. 5 Northshore, and No. 3 Slidell taking on No. 6 Southside, both set for the same time. Additionally, No. 2 Mount Carmel will go against No. 10 Chapelle at 19:00. The finals for Division I are scheduled for 19:00 on March 16, 2024.
In Division II, the top seed, St. Thomas More, will play against No. 8 Kenner Discovery at 17:20, while No. 4 South Lafourche competes against No. 5 Natchitoches Central at 15:40. No. 3 Academy of Our Lady will face No. 6 Teurlings Catholic, and No. 2 St. Scholastica will meet No. 7 Sam Houston. The Division II finals are set for 16:30 on March 16.
Other Divisions and Semifinals
In Division III, No. 1 seed St. Michael will take on No. 8 Lutcher, while No. 4 Haynes faces No. 5 University at 12:20. Additionally, No. 3 Parkview Baptist is scheduled to play against No. 6 E.D. White, and No. 2 Hannan will compete against No. 10 Vandebilt Catholic. The finals for this division will occur at 14:00 on March 16.
Division IV features No. 1 Dunham against No. 8 Notre Dame at 10:40, while No. 4 John Curtis has already advanced by defeating No. 5 Sacred Heart-NO with a score of 3-0. No. 3 Northlake Christian faces No. 11 Catholic-NI, and No. 2 Newman will play against No. 10 Lafayette Christian. The finals for Division IV are scheduled for 11:30 on March 16.
In Division V, No. 1 Country Day has advanced to the semifinals after a 3-0 victory over No. 9 Riverside. No. 5 Ascension Catholic also progressed with a close 3-2 win against No. 4 McGehee. The semifinals will feature No. 1 Country Day against No. 5 Ascension Catholic at 10:00, while No. 2 Westminster Christian will play against an opponent to be announced. The finals for Division V will take place at 09:00 on March 16.
