Remembering Gino Porzio: A Life of Love and Legacy
Gino Porzio, a beloved figure from Ukiah, California, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, at the age of 82. He is remembered for his deep devotion to family and his remarkable contributions to his community. Born on October 14, 1943, Gino was the son of Luigi and Gina Porzio and grew up with his siblings in a nurturing environment that shaped his values and character.
A Life Rooted in Family and Community
Gino was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Frances “Diane” Porzio, who passed away on July 20, 2020, after 49 years of marriage. Together, they raised four sons: Ryan, Kevin, Scott, and Shane. Gino’s commitment to family was evident throughout his life. He took great joy in camping trips and supported his sons by cheering them on at numerous sports events, including BMX races and football games. Gino even devoted time to coaching baseball, fostering a love for sports in his children.
In his early years, Gino worked at the Palace Hotel and enjoyed riding his Vespa around town. His love story with Diane began when they met at the Rio Lindo Adventist Academy, where he often visited her on weekends. Their marriage in July 1973 marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership filled with love and shared adventures.
A Legacy of Craftsmanship and Resourcefulness
Gino’s professional life included a successful career as an electrician with B&F Electric. In 1990, he embarked on a unique project that showcased his resourcefulness. He purchased the historic Bittenbender house for just one dollar, skillfully relocating and renovating it at 211 South Spring Street. This endeavor not only highlighted his craftsmanship but also demonstrated his dedication to preserving local history.
Known for his quiet strength and gentle humor, Gino made a lasting impact on those around him. His love for his family extended to his dogs, who held a special place in his heart. Friends and family will remember him for his kindness, unwavering loyalty, and the values he instilled in his children.
Gino Porzio’s legacy is characterized by the love he shared and the memories he created. He will be forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends. A service honoring his life will be held at the Empire Mortuary on November 22, 2025, from 13:00 to 16:00. As those close to him gather to celebrate his life, they carry forward his spirit and the lessons he imparted.
