Oneida County Health Department Moves to Centralized Location
The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) has officially relocated its offices from the Adirondack Bank Building at 185 Genesee St. to the Oneida County Office Building situated at 800 Park Ave., both in Utica. This move is aimed at enhancing service coordination and operational efficiency while providing easier access to essential resources for the public and stakeholders.
County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. emphasized the benefits of this transition, stating, “Centralizing these Health Department offices at the County Office Building will allow us to better coordinate services, strengthen internal operations and make it easier for residents and partners to access the resources they need.” He also noted that the relocation will lead to cost savings for taxpayers by consolidating office space and reducing associated expenses.
Details of the Relocation
The new location will house several key departments, including Administration, Special Children Services, Health Promotion, and Environmental Health. The phone numbers for these offices will remain unchanged. Importantly, while most services, including those provided by Administration and Special Children Services, will continue without disruption, the Environmental Health Department will see some alterations in its in-person service delivery.
Operators of permitted facilities—such as restaurants, hotels, motels, pools, campgrounds, and mobile home parks—are now required to mail or deliver their permit applications and payments to the Oneida County Office Building. Additionally, submissions related to rabies and animal specimens must now go to the new office location, but arrangements for this should be prearranged by contacting (315) 798-5064.
Despite these changes, the OCHD’s clinic services will continue as usual at 406 Elizabeth St. in Utica, operating Monday through Friday. Specific clinic hours are also available in Rome on designated dates. For the latest information on clinic hours and services, residents are encouraged to visit oneidacountyny.gov/vaccines.
For any inquiries regarding the relocation or services, the public can reach the department at (315) 798-5064 or via email at [email protected]. More comprehensive information about the Oneida County Health Department can be found at oneidacountyny.gov/health.
This strategic move reflects the department’s commitment to delivering efficient and high-quality public health services to the community.
