Amy Poehler Shares Flight Altercation on ‘Good Hang’ Podcast

Actress Amy Poehler recently recounted an unexpected confrontation during a flight, which unfolded in a first-class cabin. This incident emerged during a December 2025 episode of her podcast, “Good Hang.” The episode featured her “Mean Girls” co-star Ana Gasteyer, who brought up a memorable flight they shared years earlier.

Gasteyer reminisced about the moment, mentioning, “You got into a fight with a guy. Baby Frances was on the plane with us, do you remember that?” Referring to her daughter, now 23 years old, the comment prompted a surprised reaction from Poehler, who questioned how she could engage in an argument while a baby was present. Gasteyer jokingly replied, “I hope so, because the guy got mad that you were swearing in front of the baby.”

Poehler then explained that a fellow first-class passenger had interrupted her, stating, “Excuse me, I’m trying to [relax]. You’re being too loud.” Clearly unfazed by the complaint, Poehler responded, “My Boston came out, let’s just say that.” While she did not provide explicit details, it was evident that her choice of words was colorful, especially with Gasteyer and her child nearby.

Gasteyer described the argument as “the best thing I’ve ever seen,” suggesting that she found humor in the exchange rather than taking offense. The unnamed man, however, was reportedly upset by Poehler’s language, expressing discontent about the use of such words in the presence of a child.

This anecdote is just one of many that Poehler has shared on her podcast, which recently won the first-ever Golden Globe for Best Podcast. During her acceptance speech for the award in January 2026, Poehler emphasized the intent behind the show, stating, “It is an attempt to try to make a very rough and unkind world filled with a little bit more love and laughter and laughing with people, not at them.”
