Evangeline Lilly Shares Costly Journey to Heal from Brain Injury
Actress Evangeline Lilly, 46, has opened up about her challenging recovery from a brain injury sustained in May 2025. After fainting and falling onto a boulder during a trip to Hawaii, she suffered a concussion that has led to ongoing cognitive decline. In a recent social media post, Lilly detailed her intensive treatment regimen, which has already incurred significant expenses.
Lilly revealed that she has spent “a lot of money” on evaluations and expert advice to address her brain health. The actress shared her journey with followers, stating, “Verdict’s in…I do have brain damage from my TBI. Comforting to know my cognitive decline isn’t just perimenopause, discomforting to know what an uphill battle it will be to try to reverse the deficiencies.” Her candidness aims to raise awareness about brain health, particularly the financial burden associated with treatment.
In her post, Lilly emphasized that while her regimen has been tailored to her needs, it may not be suitable for everyone. She expressed concern over the lack of affordable medical care, which prompted her to share her experience. “I am not a doctor nor an authority on any of this,” she clarified, underscoring her intention to inform rather than promote specific products.
Breakdown of Treatment and Costs
Lilly’s treatment plan includes various supplements aimed at supporting cognitive function. She specifically mentioned a supplement costing $63, which contains ingredients such as phosphatidylserine, ginkgo biloba extract, and acetyl-L-carnitine. The actress plans to take these supplements for a specified period to provide her brain with necessary nutrients before tapering off.
The guidance for her treatment was provided by Tanaka, a concussion clinician and chiropractor, as well as specialists from the Amen Clinics. These clinics are known for utilizing brain imaging technology to address a range of mental health issues. Lilly noted that she strives to maintain a balanced diet, preferring to obtain nutrients through food rather than relying solely on supplements.
Reflecting on her health journey, she mentioned the importance of seeking expert advice but also acknowledged the financial implications that many may face in similar situations. Lilly’s decision to disclose her treatment plan is part of her larger mission to advocate for better awareness and understanding of brain injuries.
As Lilly continues her recovery, her story highlights the often-overlooked challenges associated with brain health and the financial strain that can accompany such medical journeys. Through her openness, she aims to foster a greater dialogue about the need for accessible healthcare options for individuals dealing with traumatic brain injuries.
