He added, “To be here and to see that people reacted to it in not just a positive way, but in almost a desperate way, we’re like, ‘Oh boy, when they come after the comedians, this is when we draw the line.'” Kimmel expressed gratitude for the support he received from the audience, reinforcing the importance of free speech.

The suspension of Kimmel’s show in September 2025 was met with speculation about its political motivations, especially given Donald Trump‘s public criticism of the comedian.
