Johnny Knoxville Sets Limits for New ‘Jackass’ Film Due to Health Risks
As the excitement builds for another installment of the iconic series, Johnny Knoxville is prioritizing safety in the upcoming Jackass film, set to hit theaters on June 26, 2024. The co-creator of the beloved MTV franchise, which has entertained audiences since its launch in 2000, revealed that he has suffered from “too many concussions” over the years, prompting him to adopt a more cautious approach.
Knoxville’s Health Concerns
During an interview on Syndicate X Library, Knoxville stated, “I can’t do anything where I can get another concussion. I’m way over my limit for concussions.” He emphasized his commitment to avoiding head injuries while still supporting his cast members, who will continue to engage in the outrageous stunts that fans have come to love. “The stunts are so fun. They’re pure hell for the cast, but they’re a lot of fun for me,” he shared. “They’re having fun too. So, I’m very excited about that.”
When asked about his hospital visits due to injuries, Knoxville humorously reflected on his past, saying, “I should have stayed in school. Maybe things would have turned out differently for me. I could have named how many times I’ve been to the ER.” His comments shed light on the physical toll that the stunts have taken on his body over the years.
Anticipation for the New Film
Last week, Knoxville took to social media to announce the return of Jackass, stating, “Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!!” His enthusiasm reflects a deep connection to the franchise, which has garnered a dedicated fan base since its debut.
Co-created by Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, and Spike Jonze, the original Jackass series aired for three seasons from 2000 to 2001. This led to several successful movie adaptations, further solidifying the brand’s legacy in entertainment. The upcoming film promises to deliver the same outrageous antics that fans have come to expect, with an added focus on Knoxville’s health and safety.
As the release date approaches, the anticipation for Jackass continues to build. Knoxville’s commitment to safety sets a new tone for the franchise, ensuring that while the stunts may remain as thrilling as ever, the well-being of the cast is now a priority.
