Josh O’Connor Addresses Live-Action ‘Ratatouille’ Rumors on SNL
During his monologue on **Saturday Night Live** (SNL) on **December 13, 2023**, actor **Josh O’Connor** addressed the unexpected calls for him to portray the character **Alfredo Linguini** in a potential live-action remake of the animated film **Ratatouille**. The 35-year-old, known for his role in *Knives Out: A Deadly Mystery*, expressed his disinterest in the idea while also providing a humorous take on the situation.
O’Connor explained how his fondness for *Ratatouille* had led fans to suggest him for the role of the chef. “I said that one of my favorite movies is *Ratatouille*, which is true, it’s a great film,” he noted during the live broadcast. He further revealed that he was unaware of the ongoing discussions until the president of **Disney-Pixar** announced that there would be no live-action adaptation of *Ratatouille*, stating, “no matter how much Josh O’Connor wants it.”
In a light-hearted moment, he remarked on the peculiar nature of being publicly rejected for a role he never intended to pursue. “Do you know how it feels to be publicly rejected from a job I didn’t even want?” he asked, emphasizing that he did not have the time to take on such a project. Throughout his monologue, O’Connor continually referenced *Ratatouille*, cleverly weaving it into his narrative.
O’Connor mentioned his current involvement in the upcoming *Knives Out* film, quipping that the title could serve as a fitting name for a live-action *Ratatouille*. “I’m already in the new *Knives Out* film — saying it out loud sounds like the perfect name for the live-action *Ratatouille*,” he said, adding a touch of humor to his monologue.
As he wrapped up his segment, O’Connor expressed his gratitude for being a guest on SNL during the festive season, describing it as “magical and joyous.” He playfully considered casting choices for a theoretical remake, questioning who might portray the iconic food critic **Anton Ego**. “Perhaps **Jeff Goldblum**. No, no, no, no. I mean, yes, but later,” he joked, leaving the audience entertained.
O’Connor’s engaging performance on SNL, combined with his humorous rejection of the *Ratatouille* role, has sparked discussions among fans and media alike, proving once again his ability to connect with audiences through his charm and wit.
