Kim Kardashian Discusses Co-Parenting Challenges with Kanye West
Kim Kardashian recently shared insights into her co-parenting relationship with Kanye West, also known as Ye, revealing the complexities they face in raising their four children together. Speaking on the podcast Call Her Daddy, Kardashian addressed the challenges of maintaining a healthy dynamic, stating, “It’s not easy,” while emphasizing her commitment to fostering a positive environment for her children.
The couple shares daughters North, 12, and Chicago, 7, as well as sons Saint, 9, and Psalm, 6. Kardashian expressed her desire for a strong relationship between the children and their father. “I welcome a great healthy relationship with my kids and their dad,” she noted, adding that she actively encourages interactions while also protecting them when necessary.
Kardashian underscored that their co-parenting journey involves “waves and phases,” and she often reflects on her own upbringing, which was influenced by her close relationship with her father. She admires the way other families, including her sister Khloé Kardashian and her partner Tristan Thompson, manage to maintain strong familial bonds.
When asked about the last time their children saw Ye, Kardashian revealed, “Whenever he’ll call for them and ask. It’s probably been a couple of months since we’ve heard from him.” She pointed out that Ye’s lifestyle, which frequently involves travel and living in multiple countries, complicates their co-parenting efforts. “They always knew that he had a big life traveling before and was always on tour,” she explained.
Kardashian described her role as a mother as crucial in ensuring her children maintain their routines and happiness amidst the challenges. She firmly stated, “I’ve never once done that,” referring to accusations that she has kept the children away from Ye. She expressed frustration over narratives suggesting otherwise, asserting, “I think that all that narrative really sucks for me.”
Reflecting on the dissolution of her marriage to Ye, Kardashian indicated that there was not a singular event that led to their separation, but rather a series of issues, including public disputes and emotional safety concerns. “Just not feeling safe, you know, not even physically, just, like, maybe emotionally or even, you know, financially,” she elaborated.
Kardashian revealed that the unpredictable nature of Ye’s behavior at times left her feeling unsettled, citing instances where personal belongings, including cars, would disappear during his episodes. Despite her efforts to salvage the relationship, she noted that Ye was resistant to making necessary changes.
“It makes it really hard to continue on in a relationship that can be toxic,” she remarked. Kardashian emphasized the difficulty of leaving a relationship with children involved, stating, “When you have kids, it’s definitely harder to leave than it is to stay.” She reiterated the importance of prioritizing her mental health for the sake of her children, saying, “Once my mental health starts to get affected and then I can’t parent the way that I need to…there’s gotta be one of us that can.”
The public response to Kardashian’s candidness has been largely positive. Many have applauded her for handling the situation with grace and maturity. Comments from social media users have ranged from admiration for her parenting to recognition of her efforts to maintain stability for her children.
Kardashian’s insights into her co-parenting dynamic with Ye provide a glimpse into the realities faced by many families navigating similar challenges. As they continue to co-parent, her commitment to fostering a healthy environment for their children remains a priority.
