Remembering Sue Carol Davisson: A Life of Love and Legacy
Sue Carol Davisson, affectionately known as Mom and Mamaw, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at her home in Sebring, Florida. Born on May 19, 1937, in Littleton, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Beda Robinson Pyles. Sue was married to the late William Gene Davisson for an impressive 68 years, and together they built a family that will cherish her memory for generations.
Sue is survived by her son, William “Bill” Gene Davisson Jr. (Darlene), her granddaughter, Sheena Rene’ Davisson Martin (Adam), and step-granddaughters, Tali Sickles (Cody) and Tasha Soccorsi (fiancé Michael Pellegrini). Her legacy also includes her great-granddaughter, Kennedy Rose Martin, and her brother, Allen Kent Pyles (Jo Anne), along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Kitty McFarland.
A Life of Service and Family
Sue was a graduate of Glenville State University and held various roles throughout her life, including working as an EMT, beautician, and social worker for local senior citizens. Yet, she took the greatest pride in being the matriarch of the Davisson family, where her love and guidance created a nurturing environment for her loved ones. Known for her strong will, courage, and generosity, Sue expressed her affection through her cooking, which included famous jams, pickled beets, cobblers, and rhubarb pies.
She had a unique way of connecting with her family, sending thoughtful messages on social media, mailing surprise boxes of fresh Florida oranges, and gifting yearly Christmas ornaments. Her simple acts of kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Joy in Everyday Moments
Sue found happiness in the little things, from gardening to baking, reading the Bible, and enjoying her favorite television shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!. She loved taking walks and riding her golf cart around Buttonwood Bay while tending to her hummingbird feeders. Additionally, she appreciated the finer things in life, including shopping and traveling with her granddaughter, where they created cherished memories together.
Known for her vibrant personality, Sue hosted tea parties, organized competitive card and bingo nights, and enjoyed gospel music during travels in the family’s motor home. A devoted sports fan, she supported her beloved West Virginia Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, eagerly anticipating weekends filled with football and family discussions about the latest games.
Sue embraced a life well lived, splitting her time between Florida in the winter and West Virginia in the summer. This lifestyle allowed her to enjoy the best of both worlds, surrounded by friends and family. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but her teachings on resilience and tenacity will continue to inspire her loved ones.
In honor of her spirit and preference for warmer weather, a spring tea party will be planned to celebrate Sue’s life, bringing together family and friends to share stories and remember the joy she brought to their lives.
