Slipknot’s Long-Awaited Project ‘Look Outside Your Window’ Launches
The long-anticipated project titled Look Outside Your Window, involving members of the band Slipknot, has officially been scheduled for release on April 18, 2026. This unique album will be available as a special edition for Record Store Day, marking an exciting moment for fans who have been eagerly waiting for new music.
The project is not a conventional Slipknot album but rather an experimental collaboration featuring Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Shawn “Clown” Crahan, and Sid Wilson. The music was created during the recording sessions for All Hope Is Gone, the band’s fourth studio album released in 2008. After being shelved for several years, this album finally sees its light of day.
In a joint statement released through Knotfest, the band reflected on the creative journey that led to this album. They described the project as a tribute to their experimental spirit, stating, “We knew we were heading down a different creative path, entirely apart from Slipknot, and we followed it eagerly.”
The musicians explained that the songs emerged during a chaotic period, crafted late at night in an isolated farmhouse. They wrote, “Peering out through a big picture window, we wondered about what, or who, might be lurking outside. That sense of the unknown seeped into the music itself.” The band embraced a freeform approach, allowing creativity to flow without constraints, describing their process as guided by emotion and instinct.
The album features a blend of sounds, utilizing elements such as subtle drum loops, organ snippets, and even samples from nature, including frogs and crickets. The result is a collection of tracks that reflect their artistic exploration during that time.
In a previous interview with NME in 2024, Crahan indicated that the project was nearing completion. He had expressed hope that it would be released within that year, sharing that he had recently shown Taylor the final artwork. “It is happening, but unfortunately, because of Christmas and New Year and the way business works, I can’t slide it in this year,” he stated, reassuring fans that plans were in motion for the album’s release.
Crahan added, “What’s nice, though, is that it isn’t a hype thing. It’s just something we did while we were doing other Slipknot albums. It was a very honest action to make music that wasn’t Slipknot but utilized the skills of guys with no rules.”
While he acknowledged the uncertainty regarding the album’s quality, Crahan expressed his personal connection to the music. “I make music for myself, but I hope that the people who waited and waited and waited think it was worth it too,” he concluded.
With the announcement of Look Outside Your Window and its upcoming release, Slipknot fans can look forward to an intriguing addition to the band’s discography, offering a glimpse into their creative process outside the confines of their primary project.
