Stargate SG-1 Returns to Netflix on February 15, 2026

The beloved sci-fi series Stargate SG-1 is set to return to Netflix on February 15, 2026, after a three-year hiatus. This new licensing agreement with MGM, now part of Amazon, will bring all ten seasons of the show back to subscribers in the United States and select international regions, including the United Kingdom and parts of Latin America.

Fans of the genre regard Stargate SG-1 as a cornerstone of science fiction, placing it alongside iconic series such as Star Trek and Doctor Who. Previously, Stargate SG-1 had a brief tenure on Netflix, returning to the platform in late 2020 but departing on December 1, 2022, when its licensing deal expired. This occurred as Amazon consolidated its library for Prime Video following its acquisition of MGM. Initially, it seemed unlikely that the series would return to Netflix, but the new deal has changed that outlook.

At this time, the licensing agreement includes only Stargate SG-1, and the spin-offs—Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe—remain available exclusively on Prime Video and Pluto TV in select regions. Nevertheless, if SG-1 performs well upon its return, there is potential for the spin-offs to follow later in 2026.

This revival is part of a broader strategy by Amazon to enhance its content offerings on Netflix. An Amazon representative confirmed that MGM titles are set to appear on the platform, starting with series like Hunters, featuring Al Pacino, and Fargo in selected territories. Other notable titles expected to join the lineup include The Man in the High Castle and a selection of films like the Bond collection and Legally Blonde.

Interestingly, there has been talk of a new Stargate reboot, which was announced last month and will be led by Martin Gero on Prime Video. This development raises questions about the future of the franchise, especially considering that there were earlier discussions about a potential reboot with Netflix.

As the return of Stargate SG-1 approaches, fans are eagerly anticipating the chance to revisit the adventures of Colonel O’Neill and his team.
