‘Tell Me Lies’ Stars Discuss Surprising Romance Twist in Season 3
The latest episode of the hit Hulu series Tell Me Lies revealed a surprising twist that has fans buzzing. During the episode aired on January 20, 2024, a flash-forward scene at a wedding showcased the bride, Bree (played by Cat Missal), and her unexpected connection to Wrigley (portrayed by Spencer House). This revelation has prompted both the cast and viewers to reassess the dynamics of the show’s central relationships.
Branden Cook, who plays Evan, expressed his initial reaction to the unexpected romance. “It was an adjustment — obviously — just in terms of where does that leave everything and how do we work through this triangle now,” Cook stated in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. He noted the complexities introduced by this twist and highlighted how it impacts the relationships among the characters. Cook humorously remarked that this development has shifted the audience’s allegiances, saying, “Nobody is rooting for Evan ever. But it was cool and it’s funny.”
Cast Reactions to the Shift
House, reflecting on his character’s arc, shared that he “loved” exploring Wrigley’s backstory. He remarked, “This was the most fun I’ve had in any season. It’s because Wrigley got to have an arc that had an upwards trajectory.” According to House, previous seasons featured character developments that were more turbulent, making this new direction a refreshing change.
Missal also praised the show’s writers for their innovative approach. “Honestly, I think [Bree and Wrigley’s] relationship offers the dynamic of the show a bit of relief,” she explained. “I think people were yearning for that, and I think the writers were so smart in doing that.” She elaborated on Bree’s quest for stability, stating, “For Bree, she’s just searching for security and searching for a truth that she’s not getting with most of these relationships in her life. And Wrigley opens that door a little bit for her.”
The current season of Tell Me Lies has already begun to break streaming records since its premiere earlier this month. As viewers continue to engage with the unfolding drama, the future of the series remains uncertain.
Future of Tell Me Lies
Creator Meaghan Oppenheimer addressed the potential for future seasons in a conversation with Us Weekly. “In terms of future seasons, it’s impossible to really know at this point,” she said, acknowledging the unpredictability of series renewals. Oppenheimer noted that she always envisioned this season as a satisfying conclusion. “But you never know what’s going to happen in the future,” she added, leaving room for the possibility of a continuation.
New episodes of Tell Me Lies air every Tuesday on Hulu, keeping fans eagerly awaiting further developments in the intricate relationships among the characters.
