Two Lafayette Men Arrested Following Chalmette Drive Shooting

Two men from Lafayette have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on Thursday morning, March 14, 2024, on the 300 block of Chalmette Drive. According to local law enforcement, Broderick Brown Jr., 17, faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and illegal discharge of a firearm. His accomplice, Danvonrick Foster, 26, has been charged as a principal to second-degree murder.

The incident took place at approximately 11:20 a.m., when police responded to reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, they found a 37-year-old male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery and is currently reported to be in stable condition.

Investigations indicate that the shooting stemmed from a verbal argument between the victim and Broderick Brown Jr. in the parking lot of a local establishment. Witnesses reported that the argument escalated quickly, leading Brown to draw a firearm and shoot the victim before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Local authorities have been actively pursuing leads in this case. Both suspects have been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, where they await further legal proceedings.
