Community Mourns Loss of Shelley K. Sullivan After Cancer Battle

Shelley K. Sullivan, known for her warmth and adventurous spirit, passed away unexpectedly on November 29, 2025, after a brief but aggressive battle with cancer. Her loss has left a profound impact on friends and family, who take comfort in their faith and memories of her life.

Born in South Bend, Washington, Shelley was the eldest child of Jack C. Horne and Brenda Seifert. At the age of two months, her family relocated to Pullman, a town that became an integral part of her identity. Growing up in Pullman, she formed lasting friendships, often reconnecting through gatherings and reunions after graduating from Pullman High School.

In the early 1990s, Shelley met George Lin, and they married in 1996. The marriage was brief, leading her to focus on furthering her education. While working at a Starbucks in Spokane, she met her future husband, Shaun Sullivan. The couple wed on March 17, 2007, and shared a deep bond until her passing.

Shelley pursued a degree in nursing, which she earned from Washington State University in May 2009. Her career exemplified her caring nature, extending her compassion to all she met—be it family, friends, or new acquaintances.

A Passion for Family and Community

Shelley’s greatest passion was her family, particularly her nephews and nieces, whom she adored. She cherished her dogs and took pride in spoiling them, reflecting her nurturing spirit. She is remembered for her adventurous heart and the joy she brought to those around her.

Shelley is preceded in death by her grandparents and sisters, Stephanie Horne and Jessica Seifert Greco, along with her beloved dogs, Bailey, Ella, and Gidget. She leaves behind her husband, Shaun Sullivan, along with her mother, Brenda (Dan), father, Jack (Marcy), and siblings, including Tricia (Greg) James and Jill Seifert. She is also survived by brothers David (Kelsey) Horne and Ryan Horne, as well as numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

A service to honor her life will take place at 1 p.m. on January 17, 2026, at Pullman Presbyterian Church, located at 1630 NE Stadium Way, Pullman. In lieu of flowers, family members encourage donations to causes that were meaningful to Shelley.

The outpouring of condolences, prayers, and support from the community has provided solace during this difficult time. Shelley’s legacy of kindness and love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
