Detroit Lakes Welcomes New Salt Therapy Rooms at ReLakes Massage

ReLakes Professional Massage in Detroit Lakes has expanded its offerings with the introduction of both a salt therapy room and a salt float room. This new space, located in the Washington Square Mall, now covers approximately 2,000 square feet, providing an enhanced environment for relaxation and wellness.

The business is owned by Stacy Morris, who has integrated the latest wellness trends into her massage therapy practice. ReLakes now features nine qualified massage therapists who provide a variety of treatments, including deep tissue, Swedish, and sports massage. Each session is tailored to meet individual client needs, combining different massage techniques as necessary. Couples seeking a shared experience can enjoy simultaneous massages in a specially designated room.

One of the standout features of the new facility is the salt therapy room, also known as halotherapy. This room is designed to promote relaxation while clients breathe in micro-salt particles released into the air. The walls are adorned with glowing Himalayan pink salt, creating a calming atmosphere. According to Morris, halotherapy is beneficial for respiratory health, helping to alleviate issues such as mucus buildup and lung inflammation. It may also aid skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

In addition to the salt therapy room, ReLakes has introduced a salt float therapy tank. This expansive tank, standing at 7 feet high and filled with 11 inches of Epsom saltwater, allows clients to float effortlessly. The float experience is enhanced by customizable lighting options, including star-like twinkling lights on the ceiling. Morris emphasizes that this therapy can provide significant relief for individuals suffering from chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and arthritis.

“The float therapy is ideal for those who may not prefer traditional massage but still seek pain relief,” Morris explained. Clients float in water that is maintained at a constant temperature of 93.5 degrees, which helps create a sensation of weightlessness. This unique experience can also aid in reducing stress, anxiety, and improving sleep quality.

The float sessions last about an hour, and the cost is $64.73. After each use, the water undergoes a rigorous 15-minute filtration process, ensuring cleanliness that exceeds typical drinking water standards. Morris highlights that the float tank contains around 25 fifty-pound bags of salt, contributing to the therapeutic experience.

Morris, originally from North Dakota, took a leap of faith in 2022 when she purchased ReLakes from her mentor, Rachel Alderson, owner of Revive Professional Massage in Fargo. Morris’s journey led her to Detroit Lakes in November 2017, where she has since built a community-oriented business.

ReLakes Professional Massage is set to host its first open house on November 22, 2023, from 15:00 to 18:00. This event will provide the public an opportunity to tour the facility and meet the staff. Morris is enthusiastic about showcasing the new therapy options and offering Christmas gift card specials during the open house.

The center is typically open from 08:15 to 20:30 Monday through Friday, 08:45 to 17:00 on Saturdays, and 10:00 to 15:00 or 17:00 on Sundays. Clients can easily book appointments through the ReLakes website or by calling 218-844-8898.
