Scott Adams Shares Hospital Update, Cancels Live Stream Show
Scott Adams, the creator of the comic strip “Dilbert,” announced on social media that he would not be hosting his usual live stream, “Coffee with Scott Adams,” after being hospitalized. He shared updates via two videos on Wednesday, revealing that he was tied to a chair in the hospital and unable to record his show.
In a candid video posted on X, Adams explained his situation, stating, “Hey people. So, normally I would be doing my ‘Coffee with Scott Adams’ live stream, but you can see the problem. I’m tied to a chair in the hospital.” He reassured his audience that he expected to be released later that day, describing the issue as “small-ish problems.”
Adams, who disclosed his prostate cancer diagnosis during a May 2023 episode of his show, had cut his Tuesday episode short due to feeling unwell. He was visibly in discomfort, mentioning that he was being administered a significant amount of antibiotics and speculating that he may have contracted infections during his hospital stay.
Health Update and Audience Interaction
During the live streams, Adams interacted with approximately 1,000 viewers, expressing gratitude for their support. “I’m going to keep this short. I just wanted to leave a little record here that I’m here, but the show won’t be here today because somebody tied me to a chair with Velcro,” he said. He humorously compared his situation to a scene from a movie, adding, “If this were a movie, this would be me tied to a chair before they torture me,” while noting that he was eager to return home.
As he awaited breakfast, Adams mentioned that he was experiencing pain in one of his legs, underscoring his current health challenges. He maintained a lighthearted tone despite his circumstances, noting his desire to go home and resume his daily activities.
Background on Cancer Treatment
This hospitalization comes after Adams publicly requested intervention from former President Donald Trump regarding his health insurance provider, Kaiser Permanente. On November 2, he stated that the provider had failed to schedule him for Pluvicto, a potentially life-saving treatment for his cancer. In a subsequent episode, he credited his request to Trump as a possible factor in saving his life.
Adams later acknowledged that Kaiser Permanente was improving its service, stating that they were “definitely stepping up” and providing him with “a high-quality product.” This dynamic highlights the ongoing challenges faced by patients navigating healthcare systems while managing serious health conditions.
As he prepares to leave the hospital, Scott Adams remains a prominent voice, engaging with his audience through his platforms while dealing with his health issues. He concluded his video updates with the hope of returning to his regular programming soon, saying, “I will see you maybe tomorrow. I don’t know.”
