Former Royal Butler Comments on Prince Harry’s UK Return Speculation
Speculation surrounding Prince Harry‘s possible return to the U.K. has intensified recently, prompting insights from Grant Harrold, a former butler to King Charles. Harrold, who served in the Royal Household for seven years, shared his perspective on this matter during an interview with Smooth Spins.
When asked if Harry is genuinely contemplating a move back to the U.K., Harrold expressed doubt. He stated, “I don’t see it happening right now. He’s happily married and has friendships in America.” Harrold emphasized that Harry’s departure from royal duties stemmed from feeling restricted by the structured lifestyle, and he appears content living in the United States with his family.
The conversation comes amidst reports of tensions in the royal family, particularly involving Prince William and Kate Middleton, whose neighbors have expressed frustration over disruptions related to the festive season. Harrold noted that if Harry were to return, it would likely be driven by a longing for his former life, including his work, friends, and family ties.
“If Harry ever did return to the U.K., it would be because he misses his old life — his family, including his father and possibly even William and Catherine,” Harrold explained. He added that this motivation would be straightforward and uncomplicated.
Despite not expecting an imminent relocation, Harrold acknowledged signs that suggest Harry may eventually consider a return. “My gut says he still misses aspects of the U.K.,” he remarked, highlighting the complexities of family commitments.
Discussing Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, Harrold indicated that she is unlikely to view the U.K. as a permanent home. When asked if Meghan would consider moving back, he responded, “No, I don’t. She prefers the States, the lifestyle, the climate, and the environment.” Harrold observed that while Meghan enjoys visiting London, her choice to relocate to the U.S. was deliberate, indicating a preference for their current lifestyle.
The family dynamic plays a crucial role in any potential return. With two children, Harry’s decisions now involve more than just his personal desires. Harrold explained, “If circumstances allowed, he would probably choose to come back in the future, but he still has a lot of current commitments in the U.S.”
This discussion comes at a challenging time for Meghan, who is facing scrutiny over her estranged father’s health issues, including allegations of “hypocrisy” as he recently underwent leg amputation surgery.
In summary, while there is ongoing speculation regarding Prince Harry’s future in the U.K., insights from Grant Harrold suggest that any return is unlikely in the near term. Harry’s contentment in the U.S. and Meghan’s strong preference for their life there appear to heavily influence their current situation.
