Gerald Eugene Stram, Beloved Family Man, Passes Away at 87
Gerald Eugene Stram, affectionately known as “Jerry,” passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2025, surrounded by family. He was 87 years old and died of natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.
Born on July 14, 1938, in Oakland, California, Jerry was the son of Cynthia Jane Chapman-Stram and Roy Wilbur Stram. He spent his early years in Lafayette, California, before moving to Sausalito, California, and later to Portland, Oregon. After returning to Sausalito, he made it his home for over 50 years.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Maidalee “Maxey” Eileen Kroijer-Stram, who passed away in 2014. His first wife, Dustine Dorothy Rohl-Stram-Nelson, died in 2001. He is survived by his two children, Denise Stram-Youngblood and Kenneth Stram, along with their spouses, Brian and Eileen. Jerry was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two.
Throughout his life, Jerry embraced adventure and enjoyment. He loved travel, camping, and fishing, often sharing a fond memory of enjoying a $3 beer at the Marin Brewing Company with friends. He graduated from Tamalpais High School in 1956 and continued his education at the College of Marin and Humboldt State University. Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army, further demonstrating his commitment to service.
A lifelong sports fan, Jerry supported the San Francisco 49ers since the late 1940s, and he cherished the opportunity to watch them play against the Los Angeles Rams on his final day. His community involvement was notable; he was a dedicated member of the Sausalito Lions Club and volunteered for many years at the Sausalito Art Festival.
In keeping with his generous spirit, Jerry donated his remains to UCSF for scientific research. His ashes will be scattered beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, allowing friends and family to pay their respects. In honor of his memory, donations can be made to a charity of choice, reflecting Jerry’s commitment to helping others.
As family and friends gather to remember Jerry, they celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments.
