Join the Fun at Dog Days This Weekend at the Garden
This weekend, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden (FWBG) will host its much-anticipated Dog Days event, inviting dog owners and their furry companions to enjoy two full days in the scenic beauty of the Garden. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, allowing visitors ample time to explore the grounds together.
Regular admission fees apply for human guests, with an additional charge of $5 per dog. Members of FWBG, both human and canine, will receive complimentary admission. For those who have not yet joined, the Garden encourages new memberships to take advantage of this and other benefits.
Dog-Friendly Guidelines for a Safe Visit
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees, the Garden has established a set of guidelines that both pets and their owners must follow. All dogs must be leashed, over four months old, and current on vaccinations. Dogs in heat are prohibited from attending the event to maintain a comfortable environment for all participants.
FWBG also emphasizes the importance of responsible pet ownership. Dogs should never be left unattended in vehicles, and owners must clean up after their pets. The Garden will provide waste bags for convenience, but it is the owner’s responsibility to dispose of waste properly in designated trash receptacles.
While dogs are welcome in many outdoor areas, they are not permitted inside the Rock Springs Café, the Rainforest Conservatory, or on trams. Owners are encouraged to ensure their pets are well-socialized and exhibit good behavior. Garden staff reserves the right to ask any owner to leave if their dog displays aggressive behavior.
Respecting the Garden and Fellow Visitors
Guests are reminded to stay on designated trails, pathways, and open lawn areas to protect the Garden’s horticultural displays. This consideration helps maintain the beauty of the space for all visitors to enjoy.
Pet owners are also advised to manage interactions between their dogs and other guests, particularly around children. It is essential to ask permission before approaching unfamiliar dogs, ensuring a respectful and safe environment for everyone.
As the event approaches, FWBG staff recommends that human guests wear sturdy walking shoes and take precautions against sun exposure while enjoying the outdoor activities.
Finally, visitors are encouraged to leave the Garden as they found it. Collecting all dog-related items, including treats, bags, and any waste, contributes to a pleasant experience for all future guests and their pets.
Join the FWBG this weekend for a delightful time that celebrates the bond between humans and their canine companions.
