Lorain Lions Club Supports Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign
The Lorain Lions Club has continued its long-standing tradition of supporting the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, an initiative that has been providing essential services to the community for nearly 90 years. On December 6, 2023, 24 members braved the cold weather to ring bells and encourage donations at the Walmart Supercenter located at 4380 N. Leavitt Road in Lorain.
Dino Torres, a member of the Lorain Lions Club, added a festive touch to the day’s activities by dressing up as Santa Claus. He expressed his joy at participating in the campaign, stating, “The greatest joy I received ringing the bells was seeing the smiles on the donor’s faces as we rang the bells and they made donations to the red kettles. Tis the season of giving indeed.”
Community Impact and Ongoing Support
The partnership between the Lorain Lions Club and the Salvation Army has proven to be a vital resource for the community. Year after year, the Lions dedicate their time and efforts to ensure the campaign’s success. The funds raised through this initiative help the Salvation Army Lorain Corps provide crucial services, including food, shelter, and other support for those in need during the Christmas season and throughout the year.
According to a recent news release from the Lorain Lions Club, the contributions made at the red kettles foster a sense of connection and hope among community members. In addition to physical donations, individuals can support the campaign by sending checks payable to the Salvation Army Lorain, which can be mailed or delivered to their headquarters at 2506 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44052.
Volunteers Needed for the Holiday Season
The Salvation Army is actively seeking more volunteers to assist with ringing bells this holiday season. Those interested in helping can sign up by visiting www.RegisterToRing.com or reaching out to the Salvation Army at 440-244-1921.
As the holiday season progresses, the continued support from the Lorain Lions Club and other community members remains essential in ensuring that the Salvation Army can meet the needs of those less fortunate.
