Colorado Wildlife Council Invites Nominations for 2026 Award
The Colorado Wildlife Council is currently seeking nominations for its prestigious 2026 Conservationist of the Year Award. This initiative aims to recognize individuals and organizations that significantly contribute to wildlife conservation and sustainability efforts within the state. The award highlights the importance of educating the public about the role of hunting and fishing in ecological management.
Residents of Colorado affiliated with conservation-focused entities are encouraged to either nominate themselves or recommend deserving candidates. The council is particularly interested in individuals and organizations that have demonstrated measurable impacts in areas such as habitat restoration, resource protection, and sustainable practices. The selection process will evaluate nominees based on their innovation, community involvement, and collaborative efforts.
Nominations should be comprehensive, detailing the nominee’s conservation activities, the duration of their involvement, notable achievements, and any partnerships formed throughout their efforts. Colorado Parks and Wildlife recommends including up to three supplementary materials to enhance the nomination, such as photos, project reports, or letters of endorsement that validate the nominee’s contributions to conservation.
The deadline for submitting nominations is March 31, 2026. All applications must be completed online, including all required supporting documents. Given the detailed nature of the nomination process, prospective nominators are encouraged to start early to ensure a thorough submission.
The winner of the award will be announced in May 2026 and will be honored during a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission meeting. This recognition not only celebrates individual achievements but also integrates them into the broader narrative of conservation efforts in Colorado.
