Epstein Files Expose Diana DeGette’s Links to Alleged Enabler
Recent revelations from newly released documents by the U.S. Department of Justice have unveiled a concerning connection between Diana DeGette, a congresswoman from Colorado, and Barbro Ehnbom, a Swedish businesswoman linked to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The emails exchanged between Epstein and Ehnbom, spanning from 2009 to 2016, suggest a troubling partnership, with Ehnbom even offering Epstein potential candidates for a “wife choice.”
The correspondence highlights that DeGette’s name is mentioned in over a dozen emails between the two, despite the absence of any direct communication between her and Epstein. The documents reveal that Ehnbom frequently proposed meetings between Epstein and DeGette. Notably, she sought financial support for DeGette’s political campaigns, including an invitation for Epstein to attend a fundraiser in 2012.
In one email from September 2012, Ehnbom described DeGette as a “friend,” praising her intelligence and courage. “I am doing a small fundraiser for Diana DeGette of Colorado,” the email states, requesting Epstein’s assistance. DeGette’s communications director, Jack Stelzner, clarified that the congresswoman was unaware of Ehnbom’s attempts to connect her with Epstein and emphasized that DeGette and Epstein never met. Furthermore, federal filings confirm that Epstein did not make any contributions to DeGette’s campaigns.
Ehnbom has faced scrutiny in Sweden for her connections to Epstein, especially after it was revealed that she funded a scholarship program at the Stockholm School of Economics with Epstein’s donations. Reports indicate that she had brought scholarship winners to meet Epstein, allegedly instructing them on how to present themselves. Despite her claims of innocence regarding these meetings, the recently uncovered emails paint a different picture.
According to the emails, Ehnbom frequently sent Epstein photographs of young women applying for the scholarship, expressing excitement about potential candidates. Epstein’s requests for a “wife” were made multiple times, with one email in October 2011 humorously inquiring, “Where is my Swedish wife?” In response, Ehnbom mentioned a “Brazilian girl” among her “Swedish girls,” further indicating a disturbing dynamic between them.
The Stockholm School of Economics has since issued a statement expressing regret for the trust placed in Ehnbom, especially in light of the young women who came into contact with Epstein through her. The statement, released on February 4, condemned Ehnbom and acknowledged the failure to sever ties with her earlier, stating, “We are profoundly saddened that young women came into contact with a sex offender through someone they trusted.”
DeGette played a role in promoting transparency regarding Epstein’s files, having voted in favor of the Epstein Files Transparency Act in November, which mandated the public release of related documents. Stelzner reiterated DeGette’s commitment to transparency, emphasizing her support for the full release of the Epstein files.
Ehnbom’s relationship with DeGette began in 2009, when DeGette was a keynote speaker at Ehnbom’s Swedish-American Life Science Summit in Stockholm, and the two were last seen together in 2018. Stelzner noted that DeGette has not received donations from Ehnbom in over eleven years, and their relationship has since ended.
In summary, the links between Diana DeGette and Barbro Ehnbom, as revealed in the Epstein files, raise significant questions about the nature of their interactions and the implications of Ehnbom’s association with Epstein. As the fallout from these revelations continues, DeGette’s name remains intertwined with a narrative that underscores the complexities of personal and professional relationships in the political landscape.
