Carol Stent, Cherished Wife and Advocate for Animals, Passes Away
Carol A. Stent, a beloved figure known for her vibrant spirit and unwavering support for animals, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 22, 2025, at her home in Overton, Nevada. She was surrounded by her devoted husband, David Y. Nakahara.
A Life of Adventure and Love
Born on July 14, 1939, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Carol was the eldest child of John and Jenny (Slajinsky) Prespolis. She graduated in the Class of 1957 from Saint Mary’s of the Annunciation (SMA), where she formed lasting friendships with her classmates and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, who played a significant role in her education.
Her adventurous spirit led her to San Francisco, California, where she and four classmates pursued their careers and, eventually, found their spouses. Carol’s striking beauty and zest for life attracted many, including Raymond Michael Stent, a medical intern from England. They married at the Wayfarers Chapel after Raymond completed his residency at U.C.L.A. and received his board certification in neurology.
After their divorce in the 1980s, Carol found love again with David Nakahara, a lawyer based in Torrance. The couple married in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 20, 1989, and later moved to Las Vegas, where they shared their lives with a total of seventeen beloved pets.
A Passion for Animals and Family
Carol dedicated herself to animal welfare, embodying a profound love for “all creatures great and small.” She played a crucial role in caring for David’s aging parents, offering them support and comfort during their final years, even as she herself was recovering from a stroke that left her partially paralyzed. Her resilience and warmth profoundly impacted those around her.
Survived by her husband David and her sisters, Paula Couture, Janet Buchino, and Helen Botehlo, Carol’s legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering support for family and friends. Her life was a testament to the idea that true beauty lies in kindness and compassion.
“Soli Deo Gloria . . . Only To God the Glory.”
Carol A. Stent will be remembered not only for her adventurous spirit and beauty but also for her indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy will continue through the lives she touched and the love she shared.
